Registration Support Program for Young Researchers of CDC 2015

The Registration Support Program for Young Researchers is introduced at this CDC to support promising students and young researchers who travel long distance to Japan to attend the conference and who come from countries where research funding is limited. The aim is to have such researchers become more integrated into their scientific community. This program is supported by the IEEE Control Systems Society Outreach Fund and will be used to cover student or regular registration.

Each applicant (i) must be an author or co-author of a paper accepted for presentation at CDC 2015, (ii) must have registered for the conference, and (iii) must present a paper. Moreover, the applicant must be a (student) member of both IEEE and CSS, at the time of the application.

In case the number of applicants exceeds the budget, additional criteria will be used to make a selection among the applicants. These additional criteria, in decreasing order of importance, prefer applicants who

• have not benefited from other CSS supports in the last two years,
• come from countries where research funding is limited,
• will travel a long distance to Osaka,
• will present more than one paper at the conference,
• can demonstrate active participation in CSS.

In addition, the selection committee may decide to limit awards where more than one presenter from the same institution would otherwise be offered an award to attend the same conference.

Dec 14 (tentative): Decision messages about travel support recipients are expected to be sent out.

Please note that for each applicant, your receipt for the conference registration will not be handed to you until the decisions have been completed. (Thus, it may not be in the packet that you receive at the on-site registration desk.) We will inform you in the decision email when/how we provide you with the appropriate receipt (depending on whether you receive the award or not). It will be ready during the conference week.

IEEE CSS Student Travel Support Program of CDC 2015

The Student Travel Support of CDC 2015 is meant to enable promising students to attend the conference, present their papers and become more integrated into their scientific community. Funds from IEEE Control System Society (CSS) will be used to cover Student (or Regular, if needed) registration. Depending on the number of applications, modest levels of additional support, toward defraying costs of attendance and travel, might be possible.

Each applicant (i) must be an author or co-author of a paper accepted for presentation at CDC 2015, (ii) must register at the conference (please see further instructions below), and (iii) must present a paper.

Moreover, the applicant must be a (student) member of both IEEE and CSS, at the time of the application.

If additional support, beyond registration, is awarded, original receipts will be needed for reimbursement. Details and procedures regarding reimbursement will be distributed, if needed.
